While you may never speak before a large audience or to the media, you will be required to deliver speeches and presentations throughout your business career. To prepare for these opportunities to speak to colleagues or customers, you should follow a three-part strategy: plan, write your speech or presentation, and complete it (see Chapter 16 in your textbook). Read the advice of Mark Hill of the University of Wisconsin on giving oral presentations, especially the copy of David A. Patterson's advice on
How to Give a Bad Talk
. Write a short report in which you combine the advice from your textbook with the advice from Hill's web page to develop a ten-step plan for successful public speaking.
